Oh Say, Can You Hear?

I note that Susan Peterson is wearing eye and ear protectors in the photo with “Water Wise,” by Robert Smaus (Aug. 19). I wonder (unless she lives on a spacious ranch) if she also distributes ear protectors to her neighbors?

Lawn movers! Edgers! Leaf blowers! Now mulchers! All sounding like jet planes landing! Help!
