Bethlehem Steel Plans Improvements: Bethlehem Steel Corp. said it will make $100 million in improvements at its Johnstown, Pa., plant if it obtains sufficient concessions from the United Steelworkers of America. The company said the concessions would allow it to modernize a mill to permit rod production. The Bar, Rod & Wire division plant in Johnstown employs 2,000 workers, while plants in Lackawanna, N.Y., and Sparrows Point, Md., each employ 350.
