20th Century Fox Sued Over ‘Simpsons’ Stuff: Legends of Entertainment Inc. sued 20th Century Fox alleging it breached an agreement giving Legends the license to make school supplies using animated characters from “The Simpsons.” The Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit said 20th Century breached an August, 1989, agreement by declaring Legends had breached the agreement and canceling it without giving a required 10 days written notice. The suit said 20th Century began negotiating a new licensing agreement with another party in the last six months and repeatedly rejected art work Legends submitted for approval. The lawsuit seeks $75 million in damages and injunctions to bar 20th Century from negotiating a licensing agreement with another firm. (Case No. BC009833. Filed Sept. 6, 1990)
