SAN CLEMENTE : Forster Ranch Area to Get a Stop Sign
- Share via
Complaints about accidents and drag racing near an elementary school prompted the Planning Commission to approve a stop sign for the Forster Ranch community.
The approval for the four-way sign at Camino de los Mares and Camino Vera Cruz was applauded by residents of the Forster Casablanca Condominium Assn. The problem, said city traffic engineer Mehran Sepehi, is that the Forster Ranch subdivision is growing rapidly.
“We did a study of the situation,” Sepehi said. “At least two accidents could have been prevented last year” by stop signs.
Residents were concerned about speeders because of the proximity of Truman Benedict Elementary School to Camino del los Mares, one of the major streets feeding into the area.
Sepehi said installation of the sign will get a high priority, because children are now returning to classes at Truman Benedict and schools throughout the Capistrano Unified School District.
