THE SIDELINES : After Spill, Belmont Suspends Cordero for Careless Riding

NEW YORK —
Jockey Angel Cordero Jr. has been suspended for seven days by Belmont Park stewards for careless riding.
The suspension begins Thursday and goes through Sept. 19.
Cordero was suspended for his ride aboard Naberto in Saturday’s fifth race at Belmont.
One horse impeded by Naberto was Rubigo, with Chris Antley aboard. Antley sustained a lacerated right elbow, after Rubigo fell. Antley is expected to be sidelined about a week.
