Israel Closes Lebanese Port, Cuts Route to Iraq

TYRE, Lebanon — Israel has closed a port in southern Lebanon after discovering it was used to smuggle Israeli food supplies to Iraq through Lebanon, security officials said Wednesday.
They said the port of Naqoura, at the Lebanese-Israeli border and inside Israel’s self-declared security zone in the south, was shut after Israel discovered that food being sent to Christian East Beirut had ended up in Baghdad.
The security officials said that the Israeli goods were repackaged in East Beirut under Lebanese labels and sent to Iraq through Syria and Jordan.
