Testimony Points to Reedy as Driver, Not Billy Martin

An FBI expert on hairs and fibers testified in New York Wednesday that authorities found hair they believe is William Reedy’s on the driver’s side windshield of the pickup truck in which former baseball manager Billy Martin was killed in a 1989 Christmas crash.
The testimony of Douglas Deedrick supports the contention of prosecutors that Reedy was behind the wheel when the truck owned by Martin crashed into a culvert on a snowy Christmas night. The defense contends that Reedy only told investigators he was driving to protect Martin, whom he thought was still alive.
Reedy is on trial for drunk driving in connection with the crash.
