Santa Monica : Study of Santa Monica High

Share

A committee of parents, teachers, administrators, students and community members will be set up to examine the curriculum, student population and other aspects of Santa Monica High School.

The board of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District this week gave its preliminary approval for the committee. The committee will gather information on projections of student population, the school’s image, staff, the number and types of classes being offered and the kinds of students taking them, how to meet the needs of students with limited English-speaking skills and others with special needs, dropout rates, extracurricular activities, and the physical facilities of the campus.

The idea for the committee stems from a similar group established last November to study the idea of opening a high school in Malibu.

The committee will consist of 25 to 35 people, chosen by the board, and will begin its work in early November with a budget of $3,000. It is to report its findings to the board by June, 1991.
