SOUTER ROOTER? Although it was hard to find a jurist around the Santa Ana Civic Center tuned into Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee David Souter, one who managed to catch 10 minutes of the proceedings was Orange County Superior Court Judge Gary L. Taylor. Of course, Taylor has a special interest, at least in the length of the hearings. Nominated for a U.S. district judgeship, Taylor’s own date with the Judiciary Committee may depend on how long it takes with the Souter nomination. The hearings continue today.
