Voters Face 28 Initiatives in November
Much has been said and written to extol the so-called solutions to California’s alcohol abuse problems with the passage of Prop. 134. Yet, nowhere in the proposition is there a provision to provide funds to the public school system for education or prevention programs. Prop. 134 allocates 3% to litter control programs and a paltry 3% to help get drunk drivers off our street, but doesn’t do a thing to educate our children at an early age on the problem. If we are going to fight the alcohol abuse problem, our children need to be brought into the loop before they are teen-agers and influenced by peer pressure into acting irresponsibly. It seems the proposition’s supporters have their priorities wrong.
