COMING CLEAN

We would like to commend Marita Hernandez for her effort to log the often difficult path of recovery.

However, we were surprised and disappointed, given the time Hernandez obviously spent with both clients and staff of Impact House, to see her blatant disregard for the Tradition of both Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous that requests anonymity at the level of “press, radio and film.” Although many of the clients interviewed wanted their full names used, we believe the responsibility of changing or deleting last names of those who discuss their membership in those programs belongs in this case to the journalist.

Because of our growing drug problem, we will certainly see more written about the Anonymous programs in the future. As journalists, editors and publishers, let’s work together to protect the Traditions of those organizations that have saved so many lives.
