MISSING MANNERS

Margo Kaufman’s article, “Brazen New World” (July 29) is a true description of today’s world. Good manners and the Golden Rule have died. The two persistent themes operating in peoples’ behavior these days seem to be “What’s in it for me?” and “pursuit of the almighty dollar.” This self-centered behavior is all around us.

It is very discouraging for people of conscience and good will. Is this a reflection of poor parenting or a sign of our deteriorating mentality and civilization?
