South El Monte : Rezoning for School OKd
The City Council last week approved a rezoning that clears the way for a new high school.
The 26-acre property owned by the El Monte Union High School District is at 1001 Durfee Ave., just south of the Pomona Freeway. The land was changed from commercial and agricultural land to public facilities zoning.
Part of the property is used as a continuation school. The rest is vacant buildings or vacant land.
Grading has begun for the new school, which will be part of the El Monte district. It is to be completed by the spring of 1992.
