L.A. Raiders

Mayor Tom Bradley promised a $145-million renovation to the Coliseum in order to keep the Raiders in Los Angeles. Another article, on the same page, informed that a newly installed gas collection system designed to prevent pollution at the Lopez Canyon landfill in the San Fernando Valley does not work (Part B, Sept. 13). It cost $4 million.

The already unhealthful air is getting worse--on smoggy days we’re told not to exercise--but we can afford $145 million for a football team?

Where are our priorities?
