THE SIDELINES : Texas Golf Club Invites Blacks

SAN ANTONIO —
Blacks have been invited to join the exclusive Oak Hills Country Club, the site of next month’s Texas Open. But so far there have been no takers.
Leaders of the club revealed Thursday they recently voted to add a non-discrimination statement to club bylaws.
Oak Hill officials said their membership does include Latinos, Jews and women and that some blacks have played golf at the club with members.
