These are the candidates running for three seats on the Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Trustees in the Nov. 6 election. Incumbent Harvey Triebwasser did not file for reelection. Tim Davis Age: 48 Occupation: Incumbent/ owner, Laguna Print Background: A 35-year Laguna Beach resident. Taught for 14 years in the Laguna Beach Unified School District and has one child enrolled at Thurston Middle School. Issues: Wants to continue district’s academic and financial goals. Gene Felder Age: 43 Occupation: Business executive Background: Vice president of the Laguna Canyon Conservancy and board member of Village Laguna. Issues: Opposes any plans by the school district to build in Laguna Canyon. Also opposes the proposed Laguna Laurel housing development. Karen Linden Age: 38 Occupation: Community volunteer Background: Former registered nurse. Past president and board member of Schoolpower endowment group. PTA member at El Morro Elementary and Thurston Middle School. Issues: Wants active communication among board, schools and community. Susan H. Mas Age: 48 Occupation: Incumbent/ realtor Background: Current board president and a board member since 1986. Also on the board of the Regional Occupational Program and Schoolpower. Past chairwoman of the city’s energy and environment committee. Issues: Continuing district’s academic goals, inte- grating computer technology into academic program. Carl E. Schwarz Age: 54 Occupation: Professor Background: Served on the Board of Trustees from 1981 to 1987. Past member of the Orange County School District Organization Committee. Issues: Wants to scale down the Laguna Beach High School renovation project and deal with declining district enrollment.
