AT THE ZOO: Zoo Entertainment, the new record label headed by ex-Island Records chief Lou Maglia, is already busy signing new bands (and new staffers, including promo hotshot George Gerrity and artist development exec Bud Scoppa). Zoo’s new talent menagerie includes the Rhythm Tribe, (L.A.’s premier Latin funksters), Will Sexton and Peter Wells (former lead singer with Rose Tattoo). The Rhythm Tribe just shot a scene in Ron Howard’s upcoming film, “Back Draft,” where the group performs two new songs, “Got to See Your Eyes” and “Tears in the Night” . . . . David Coverdale has recorded a new song, “You Can Never Forget Where You Came From,” slated to be on the sound track to the next Clint Eastwood film, “The Rookie” . . . . Asia’s new single, “Days Like These,” the week’s hottest album-rock track, was written by ex-Unforgiven leader Steve Jones, now an A&R; exec at Hollywood Records . . . . And C. J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band have signed to Slash Records, which will release the zydeco star’s new album, “Hot Rod,” in mid-October.
