Supervisors, Airport Officials Buffeted by Traveler Turbulence

Re “Airport Parking Prices Take Off” (Sept. 12): Once again our county fathers have stuck it to the public they purport to serve. They spend years and millions of dollars to build an airport to serve resident needs and then they price residents out of the market.
At $14 a day, I won’t be using the airport parking garage. Or perhaps even the airport itself. Orange County Airport hasn’t been a viable alternative for business travel for quite some time since flights from here to anywhere are so overpriced. I travel regularly to the Bay Area and Phoenix on client business. With a high average flight cost differential and now an exorbitant parking cost differential, I’ll continue going to Ontario or LAX.
And people wonder where inflation comes from. They forget that it’s price increases like these that keep getting passed on as business expenses. Maybe Wayne Taylor and his friends in Coto de Caza can afford to do that. I can’t because my clients have become very cost-conscious as this country heads toward a recession.
The new airport may be beautiful, but I may never know because I’m planning on avoiding using it for as long as I can.
