AIDS Virus Victims Get Access to Drug

WASHINGTON —
Patients who cannot take standard treatments for certain AIDS-related infections will be given easier access to an experimental drug, a drug company said Friday.
Astra Pharmaceuticals of Westborough, Mass., said it will provide the drug foscarnet free to people infected with the AIDS virus who are not helped by or cannot tolerate existing drugs for herpes and cytomegalovirus infections.
