The University of Florida decided against filing a formal appeal of NCAA sanctions announced last week, but proposed that it be assessed scholarship reductions in football rather than a ban on a bowl appearance this season.

University President John V. Lombardi informed the NCAA in a two-paragraph letter that Florida will not contest the findings or penalties returned after a 15-month investigation of the football and basketball programs.
