Taylor-Made Lawsuit: Elizabeth Taylor filed a $20-million libel suit Tuesday against the National Enquirer, claiming articles in the tabloid labeled her as a heavy drinker with a disfiguring disease. The Los Angeles Superior Court suit alleges that when Taylor was hospitalized earlier this year with a near-fatal pneumonia illness, a front-page headline screamed: “Liz Docs Furious. She’s Boozing It Up in the Hospital.” The suit alleges that the Enquirer was notified about inaccuracies in its stories and headlines four days before publication. National Enquirer Editor and President Iain Calder said Wednesday that the tabloid was “standing by our stories, which were thoroughly investigated.”
