Santa Monica : Sewage Limit Law Extended

Share

The City Council voted to extend an ordinance through June, 1991, that limits the amount of sewage from new developments.

Under the extended ordinance, new projects cannot produce more than 1.36% of the total amount of waste water generated in the city during the previous fiscal year.

The emergency ordinance, first approved in 1988, requires that new developments receive a sewer permit before receiving a building permit. Projects that install an on-site treatment system or ultra low-flow fixtures to existing plumbing are exempt from the sewer permit requirements.
