PRO FOOTBALL REPORT / WEEKDAY UPDATE : AROUND THE NFL : NFL to Check Reporter’s Charges
The NFL will appoint a special counsel to investigate a locker room incident in which a reporter said she was sexually harassed by several New England Patriots players, Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said Thursday. Patriot owner Victor Kiam said the team will cooperate fully.
The reporter, Lisa Olson of the Boston Herald, said she was harassed by tight end Zeke Mowatt on Sept. 17. In an interview Thursday on CBS’ “This Morning,” Olson said the newspaper wants Tagliabue to suspend Kiam.
NFL officials denied that team owners have threatened to pull complimentary Super Bowl tickets from congressmen who oppose the league’s effort to outlaw sports lotteries.
