P.M. BRIEFING : Air France to Cut S.F. Flights

PARIS —
Air France said today it will eliminate its three weekly flights from Paris to San Francisco as part of a major reorganization of its schedule but will continue to offer seven nonstop flights from Paris to Los Angeles each week.
The airline previously announced a loss of $32.6 million during the first six months of 1990.
But UTA, a French airline taken over by Air France earlier this year, will increase its nonstop flights to San Francisco to four times a week from three, Air France said.
Air France attributed the loss to a small 1.7% increase in passenger traffic in the first half from the comparable 1989 period. The company said it expects to temporarily eliminate a number of unprofitable flights.
