WORLD IN BRIEF : IRAN : Clash Reported at Parliament Session

Iran’s Parliament erupted in fistfights when radicals accused the nation’s spiritual leader, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, of rigging a forthcoming election for a key government body, sources said. The outcome of the election next week could determine whether the government body retains Khamenei as Iran’s spiritual leader or replaces him with a council of radicals who oppose Iran’s recent overtures to the West.
