Serbian-majority towns in Croatia remained tense but calm after a night of anti-Croatian violence. The Croatian Interior Ministry, implementing federal orders to take steps to defuse the ethnic violence, announced the withdrawal from Serbian enclaves of heavily armed paramilitary police.
