Hope Proposal

I was fortunate enough to attend the LAFCO public hearing in Ventura regarding Simi Valley’s request that LAFCO modify its procedure of requiring a city to amend its general plan and rezone property before requesting LAFCO to consider the annexation of the Jordan Ranch.
The ultimate question for everyone involved--or not involved that should be--is whether the majority of citizens in our area will be able to enjoy the 5,700 acres of land that will not be developed.
Sometimes a minority can hurt a very good opportunity. This Hope proposal, however, seems to have the average residents of Agoura Hills, Oak Park, Westlake Village, Simi Valley. Thousand Oaks and other close-by areas really up in arms. They know the Hope deal is the best thing possible for the vast majority of us, and they do not want a minority to ruin this unique and wonderful opportunity.
