Leslie Moonves has been promoted to president of Lorimar Television, filling the post vacated earlier this week by David Salzman, who become an independent producer.

Moonves, who had been executive vice president of creative affairs at Lorimar, reports to Barry M. Meyer, executive vice president of Warner Bros.

Lorimar, a subsidiary of Warner Bros., is the leading supplier of prime-time TV shows to the four networks. It has 11 shows on the air and a production budget totaling more than $200 million for the 1990-91 season.
