The expected clear skies and pleasant temperatures in San Diego add up to a “weekend the Chamber of Commerce would be proud of,” National Weather Service forecaster Wilbur Shigehara said.

“Not a discouraging word to say about the weather,” Shigehara said. “You can’t blame it on the weather this weekend. It’s going to be nice and pleasant for all outdoor activities.”

The Santa Ana conditions are long gone and the humidity is near-normal. The pressure patterns over California are weak with no dominating feature and minor changes on a day-to-day basis, which leaves San Diego with wonderful weekend weather--plenty of sunshine and cooler temperatures through Sunday.

“No Santa Ana, no heat wave,” he said. “It should be very nice right through the weekend.”

Temperatures today will be a little higher than usual for this time of year, but will gradually slide down a few degrees to near-normal by Sunday.

The beaches will be clear except for late night and early morning clouds. Highs may reach 69 to 75 degrees today and notch down a bit to 68 to 73 over the weekend.

The coastal strip and inland regions will be clear with some early morning clouds, and highs along the coast will range 74 to 80 degrees and drop to 57 to 62 degrees overnight. By Sunday, temperatures will fall a degree or two. The inland valleys may reach 90 degrees today, but will range 82 to 87 through Sunday. Overnight lows will fall to between 57 and 62 degrees.

Mountain areas will experience highs of 72 to 80 degrees, but may be a tad chilly by nighttime with lows anticipated down to 34 degrees.

The desert regions may reach 100 degrees with overnight lows of 55 to 63 degrees.

Water temperature is near normal at 67 degrees and the surf is 2 to 3 feet at 12 second intervals.
