Non-residential construction in Orange County remains in a slump compared to last year, at least in terms of the value of permits issued. In January, permit values were 60% ahead of 1989. But after seven months, they were running 17% behind last year. Most noticeably, permit values for hotels/motels and office buildings were much lower. Here’s how the various categories changed during the first seven months of the year, the most recent period for which information is available:
