Sculptures and restored antique pictures of downtown Anaheim in foyers and art collections displayed throughout the workplace earned awards for three Anaheim businesses and a church this week.

The Anaheim campus of FHP Inc., the Anaheim Hilton and Towers, Household Bank of Anaheim and the Anaheim United Methodist Church received Art in Public Places awards this week.

The Anaheim Arts Council cited the church for its imported, copper wall-like sculpture as part of its second annual recognition of art used as part of the environment.

Those honored “have installed art because they see a value in this for their clients,” said Julie Mayer, an artist who chairs the Art in Public Places committee.

The council also gave out three so-called chairman’s awards. The honors went to Multi Vision cable for itscoverage of events in the Anaheim art community, and artists Emigdio Vasquez, who has painted and helped restore numerous outdoor murals in the city, and Joan Farr, whose large fabric wall hangings drape the walls of the Anaheim United Methodist Church.
