The Merits in the Surrogate Case--Race Not One of Them

Share

Re Stefan J. Kirchanski’s letter (Oct. 5) about Anna Johnson and the surrogate mother case: The gentleman raises some interesting points, and then fouls them with that tired line, “if Johnson were not a poor black, would you (et cetera).”

Why must the race of a person automatically be raised as an issue whenever that person belongs to a “minority?” Enough, already.

The issues Kirchanski points out are deserving of consideration, despite his inclusion of the verbal dross. Argue the case on its merits, not on unrelated sensationalist trash sentiments.
