KLM Slashes 500 Jobs: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines said it will lay off 500 employees in the Netherlands and warned that rising jet fuel prices and a weak dollar, on which KLM’s international ticket sales are based, could wipe out profits this fiscal year. KLM also may reduce its foreign network as part of a $231-million, three-year cost-cutting plan, said spokesman Hugo Baas.
