Share

Two nonprofit Orange County organizations will receive proceeds from a women’s symposium scheduled for Saturday as part of National Business Women’s Week.

A portion of the ticket sales from the event will be donated to Human Options, a South County shelter for battered women, and Awareness, an organization that teaches people how to minimize stress in their lives.

Gail Wilson, wife of Republican gubernatorial candidate U.S. Sen. Pete Wilson, and a representative for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dianne Feinstein are scheduled to speak during the symposium’s noon luncheon. KNBC anchorwoman Kelly Lange will be the featured speaker at the event, which is titled “If My Friends Could See Me Now!”

Other symposium speakers include Human Options executive director Vivian Clecak and Awareness founder David Tennant. Human Options is attempting to raise public and private funds for apartments in which to house battered women and their children beyond the 30 to 45 days currently provided at the emergency shelter.

Exhibitors at the symposium will display and promote a variety of products and services, including career counseling, legal services, cosmetic surgery and personal accessories.

The symposium will be held at the Disneyland Hotel from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $67 per person.
