Quayle to Make TV Debut: It may not launch his acting career but Vice President Dan Quayle is scheduled to appear as himself on the Nov. 5 episode of CBS-TV’s “Major Dad” series. The series’ executive producer Rick Hawkins contacted Quayle to see if he would be interested in delivering a message in honor of the 215th birthday of the Marine Corps to the troops overseas and Quayle consented. The scene, shot Monday in his Washington office, features the vice president on the phone declining an invitation to attend the base’s birthday ball, but taking the opportunity to deliver a tribute to the Marine Corps and their families. Quayle will donate the remuneration he receives for the guest spot to the USO.
