A hunter was found innocent today of manslaughter charges in the death of a woman he shot and killed when he mistook her for a deer two years ago.

Donald Rogerson, a 47-year-old supermarket produce manager, was charged in the Nov. 15, 1988, death of Karen Wood, a 37-year-old mother of twin 1-year-old girls. Wood was shot once in the chest as she stood about 130 feet behind her home in Hermon, a rural Bangor suburb.

Members of Rogerson’s family jumped up and hugged each other after the jury’s verdict was read.
