THE SIDELINES : Chang Wins in Marlboro Match

HONG KONG —
Michael Chang defeated Sergi Bruguera of Spain, 6-3, 6-3, today in an opening Gold Group match at the Marlboro Championship.
Chang, of Placentia, came back from a 3-0 deficit in the first set to polish off Bruguera in 66 minutes.
The third-seeded Chang meets fellow American Brad Pearce on Thursday. Pearce defeated South African Christo Van Rensburg, 6-4, 6-1, in his opening match.
