Oscar-winning actress Greer Garson will miss the opening of a studio complex named for her at the College of Santa Fe because of the flu.

The 82-year-old actress was resting at her home in Dallas, spokeswoman Jean Carpenter said.

Garson, who won a best-actress Oscar in 1942 for her portrayal of a courageous English woman coping with World War II in “Mrs. Miniver,” was to be honored Friday at a reception for the Garson Communications Center and Studios.

The complex, made possible by a $3-million grant from Garson, has two production offices and 250 acres of desert property.
