New York Times Co.: The media concern reported third-quarter income of $9.2 million, off from $16.4 million earned on continuing operations in the year-ago quarter, when net income of $210.8 million was swelled by a gain on the August, 1989, sale of NYT Cable TV. Revenue was $420.7 million, up from $415.3 million a year ago. The company attributed its showing to a weak regional economy that reduced advertising at the flagship paper, and to depreciation and interest expenses associated with new facilities.
