Alta Louise Kruyer; Retired Beautician

Alta Louise Kruyer, who worked as a beautician for 16 years in Toluca Lake, has died in a Van Nuys nursing home.

A longtime resident of Reseda, Mrs. Kruyer died Tuesday of natural causes, said her daughter, Jennie Gohn of Reseda.

Born Alta Louise Powell on Feb. 20, 1904, in Sandy, Utah, she came to California in 1924. She worked as a beautician in Toluca Lake from 1952 until her retirement in 1968. She also was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Canoga Park and was active in its senior club.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by her son, Bernard W. Kruyer of Mesa, Ariz; a sister, Iola Perry of Los Alamitos; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, Walter Kruyer, died in 1970.

A funeral Mass is scheduled to be celebrated today at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, at 19850 Cantlay St, Canoga Park. Burial will follow in San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills. Bastian & Perrott Mortuary in Northridge is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Mrs. Kruyer’s name to the American Cancer Society, San Fernando Valley unit.
