Propositions 128, 135

Prop. 128 gives the voters the chance finally to phase out specific cancer-causing pesticides, something the Legislature has failed to do. However, if Prop. 135 passes and gets more votes than Prop. 128, it would allow continued pesticide use and would void sections of Prop. 128 pertaining to pesticides. It would also create a politically appointed “crony” to enforce pesticide laws. Big Green, on the other hand, would create the office of environmental advocate, who would be elected and answerable to the people.
It is time for people who care about the Earth and the environment to decide if they want to be free of pollution. We cannot have both initiatives.
