GARIEL GARCIA MARQUEZ
As a Latin American, I am proud that a Nobel prize was bestowed on Garcia Marquez. But, because of my ancestry, I find it justified that the honoree felt humbled on being cast in Cervantes’ company. He has reasons to feel humble. As a contemporary of el Bogotazo , I remember it well: While Garcia Marquez was breaking windows, Castro (on a trip paid by Peron!) was blamed for 32 of the 3,000 deaths.
