Edelman Issues Call for Precinct Officers
Citing an urgent need, Supervisor Ed Edelman has issued a call for citizens to act as precinct workers and to provide and operate polling places in the Nov. 6 elections.
“On behalf of the Los Angeles County registrar-recorder’s office, I am asking public-spirited citizens to volunteer their time, and or businesses, to help us on Election Day this fall,” Edelman, whose supervisorial district covers much of the Westside, said in a statement.
Precinct officers are responsible for poll operations. Their duties include verifying voters’ eligibility, issuing ballots, opening and closing the polls and delivering completed ballots to neighborhood check-in centers so they can be transported to election headquarters.
According to Edelman, precinct workers receive between $25 and $55 depending on what they do. Those interested in participating may call the Polls Section of the registrar-recorder’s office at (213) 725-5940, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m..
