Abbatiello 2nd Harness Racer to Win 7,000

Carmine Abbatiello became only the second driver in harness racing history to win 7,000 races when he drove Right On Course to victory in the 10th race Tuesday night at Yonkers Raceway.

Hall of Famer Herve Filion is the leading driver with more than 12,000 victories.

“It’s about time,” said Abbatiello, who posted his 6,999th victory two weeks ago. “I had over 10 chances since my last one, but something always seemed to happen in the stretch.’ Right On Course, timed in 2:00 3/5 in a driving rainstorm, paid $3.60, $3.40 and $4.60.
