Avon Products Inc.: The beauty products company earned $44.6 million in the third quarter, up 29% over the 1989 period. The New York-based firm’s sales were a record $830.8 million, up 6%. The results reflect continued profit improvements in the United States and the Americas, continued reduction in interest expense and a lower tax rate, the company said.
