Compton : Council Chamber Exempt From New Smoking Ban

Smoking would be prohibited in all city buildings except the council chamber, under an ordinance introduced Tuesday by the Compton City Council.

Ashtrays will stay in place on the south side of the audience section of the chamber, which has for years been reserved for smokers.

The proposed ban, which won unanimous support from the council, will take effect 30 days after it is voted on a second time by the council.
