Let Gibson Leave and Get Strawberry

Being a devoted Dodger fan, I resent the remark made by Allan Malamud (Oct. 18) advising the Dodgers to “tell Kirk Gibson where to go.” Mr. Malamud’s statement is nothing more than a glaring example of the no-class, pathetic attitude most sports fans have relating to the players on their favorite teams. Two years ago, Kirk Gibson could have been voted mayor of Los Angeles, but now that things are not quite working out, the rude remarks begin to fly.

As a Dodger fan, I tend to agree that a parting of the ways would be best for all parties concerned, but let’s treat the man with the respect he deserves.
