A federally-funded Head Start preschool has opened in a portable classroom at Fairvalley High School in Covina.
The program, which opened Sept. 13, was dedicated Thursday. The program serves low-income, abused or neglected children, or those with handicaps. The 40-student school operates five days a week from 8 a.m. to noon, and from 12:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Options, a nonprofit child-care agency, runs the program. The Highland Park-based organization operates 15 Head Start centers in the San Gabriel Valley and northeast Los Angeles.
