Money for Recreation Development
Proposition 149, on the Nov. 6 ballot, is the California Park and Recreation Wildlife Enhancement Act of 1990. It would provide $437 million in general obligation bonds to be used for development, rehabilitation or restoration of state and local parks, beaches and trails, and for wildlife enhancement, coastal access and historic preservation. It would also allocate $182 million for local grant purposes.
In the past, park bonds such as this have been used for the development of Surfer’s Point Park, Marina Park, Westpark and the restoration of the Ventura Pier.
If Proposition 149 passes, it would help support projects like the Ventura River Bikeway linking Foster Park to Omer Rains Bikeway, and the Aquatics Complex.
By passing Proposition 149, our children will have a little more of the state’s natural environment preserved and a place for leisure time.
