Another Delay For MGM/UA Deal: Pathe Communication Corp.’s planned purchase of MGM/UA Communications Co. was delayed for the second time in four days, giving rise to speculation that the $1.3-billion deal is in trouble. In a brief statement, the two companies said the acquisition may now be completed on Thursday. Company spokesmen said closing documentation, payment of certain obligations and a solvency opinion still must be completed. Last week, however, MGM/UA spokesmen indicated that a favorable solvency opinion had been prepared. There was no explanation for the contradiction. Bob Howard, a managing director of Houlihan, Lokey, Howard & Zukin Inc. accountants of Century City, said his firm is still in charge of rendering the opinion.
